Photoshop Collection

These are some of the samples that i created to day in Photoshop and considering them being in my final surface pattern collection for this breif.

Print development

Using the prints from the print workshop and working into them using manchine embroidery and scribling into the pattern with diferent threads and techniques.

Scribbling into the paper with orange and green thread.

Drawing circles into the paper to recreate them onto of the design.

Scribbling inside of the shapes to try and get rid of the negtive white spaces.

Visualisation of my pattern in Fashion

Using the Polygonal lasso tool to select around the dress and to copy and paste my design/pattern into that area. The same with the Womens suit design.

Circle Motif in Photoshop

Just using the simple brush tool in different sizes and colour on a blank document to try and recreate my circle pattern but just in block colour.

Favourite Prints

These are just a few of my favourite prints as they are simple and the colours that i chose to do them in really changes the design, but i do think my circle print does look alot better.

Print workshop

This print work shop i design my own stencils to use. i took inspiration from my circle design and scan in a picture from my sketchbook and used that as a template, after cutting it all i out i kept the negative pieces so i was able to use them as well. These are some photos of the actual process and the out come.

Motif Development

Choosing a different motif and trying it in lots of different ways using different colours but still using the same background.

My favourite part of the sheet, oil pastels.

The whole sheet.

A3 Motif Development in Photoshop

Developing my designs in Photoshop to create a repeat pattern for either fashion or home furnishing collection.

Motif and Pattern Development

Using the 2 drawings i used the bits of detail that i liked the most and developed it into my sketch book and onto A2 sheets with a black fine liner
The 1st stage

The last stage of my pattern design.

also i experimented with the use of colour in my sketch book and the use of other materials. On the A2 sheets using the same motifs as last time i used acrylic paint and a lime green oil pastel underneath and on top of the paint to create more texture in my pattern.

Sketch Book Drawings

Using Brusho to create the coloured wool that we used in the yarn bomb and just a simple line drawing on the top as if looking down on my installation

Using and dabbing metallic paint on the background and doing a continuous line drawing with a thicker fine liner but using the more loose pieces of string as inspiration

Yarn Bombing Textile Installation

As a group we were tasked to create a yarn bomb based on the artist we researched such as Sarah Applebaum and Miles Nieidinger. We discovered we wanted to create a linear and very abstract design, almost like a spider's web.

After doing loads of tight lines in the same space we slowly moved up the stairs, loosening up some of the string to create more of a drape effect, like Miles Nieidinger creates in his pieces.
We added more coloured string, adding warmer colours to the piece,  with the green wool we also manged to knot and make the wool drape through all the straight linear lines and blended it very well, without making it look like we had loads of gaps around the straighter lines.  I think with the group's piece it's  more about the colour and the shock and chaos of what's in front of you.
